If we all know that Barbie would fall over if scaled up to human proportions, then why do so many look up to her fisique?  If we all know that models are grosly underweight, usually anorexic or bulimic, then why would we ever want to suffer the same diseases?  If we know the damage that diet pills and crash dieting can cause our bodies, why would we ever want to take them?  Because…. wanting to believe in something better—something that feels better and looks better and just is better—is a desire created within us to long for our true home in heaven and yearn for our true bodies and the one true God.  However, because of the enemy and his sick perversions he twists a natural desire into an unnatural one.  

The desire for something better can become a disease that manifests in the very center of our hearts and minds.  It can literally cripple people by providing the fuel and will power to stop eating, or take pills and serums that actually harm the body, and eventually the disease can progress so far as unto death.

This New Year I want to speak the truth of people and remind the loved ones around me that they are incredibly and uniquely made.  They are made in the image of Christ and their true home is in heaven.  I want to pray a hedge of protection around their thoughts to keep the enemy out.  And I want to help them realize the freedom in relinquishing unrealistic expectations because although we may live in a world where logic and realism are worshipped, we certainly have a knack for setting unrealistic precedents.  

I guess I’ll use this time to let you know that I love you very much.
